Splendour Festival is a single day event that takes place in Nottingham, UK. The festival consists of a variety of acts performing various music genres and comedy.

The festival is held at Wollaton Hall, Wollaton which is just outside the inner city limits of Nottingham.

For the 5th Splendour Festival, some big names have been revealed for Nottingham based summer event. Dizzee Rascal as been confirmed as the head-liner for the main stage where he will also be joined by Razorlight and Katy B. Headlining the second stage will be The Levellers. Splendour is a festival which tries to attract audiences of all ages and lovers of music. This is proven by previous line-ups including acts ranging from Madness, Pet Shop Boys to Calvin Harris and OK GO.

The crowds tend to be mainly people from the local and surrounding areas of Nottingham. As the festival is only a single day event, it is also a great festival for families.

History and facts

Splendour held its first festival back in 2008 and was originally a two day event.

Despite being a new festival in 2008, the organisers managed to put together an impressive line-up with big names such as, Paolo Nutini, Kate Nash, The Charlatans, Ocean Colour Scene, Rufus Wainwright and many more.

Splendour is one of 18 festivals commended for their environmental efforts in the prestigious Greener Festival Award 2011.

Music stages and other entertainment

Splendour features three stages for live music and a comedy stage. There is also special entertainment for children which includes fairground rides, live entertainment, kid's zone with games, toys and much more.

On site information

Noise Volumes: The noise volumes can get loud the closer you are to a stage, so it's advised to take ear plugs in case you stand near a speaker or close to a stage.

Festival Times:: Gates open at midday and the event is expected to finish about 10.30pm.

Smoking:: There is no smoking inside the venues, however smoking is allowed in any outdoor area.

Cash Machines:: There are cash points located around the festival. It is very likely that these cash points will charge so it's advised that you bring enough cash into the festival and it would save you queuing and missing out any of the acts.

Merchandise & Programmes: There are a number of stalls located around the festival site selling Splendour Festival and act's merchandise and programmes.

General bins and Recycling bins: There are plenty of general and recycling bins located around the festival site.

Toilets: Toilets are placed at various locations around the edge of the festival site. There are disabled toilet facilities at Spledour including a toilet with a hoist.

Other Information: Pass outs will be provided for those who need to leave the site but wish to return.

The festival is held in the middle of the UK summer. So summer clothing is recommended as well as plenty of sun-cream.

However this is the UK, so it is advisable to check the weather closer to the time as it is known to rain. Also it maybe warm during the day, it can get cool in the evening so warm/waterproof clothing should be brought too for emergencies.

Food and drink

There are food vendors at the festival should you wish to purchase food and onsite bars serving a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Picnics are permitted.


You are not allowed to bring your own alcohol or glass bottles on site and it is important to remember to bring your ID, the festival does not operate a plus 21 wristband service so have your ID on hand.


Drugs are strictly prohibited from the festival. Anyone found with or using illegal drugs will be removed from the event and the police would be informed.

There is no camping at Splendour Festival. However there are numerous local hotels and hostels located within the city of Nottingham:

By Car

The M1 is the closest motorway with either junction 25 or 26 used to access Wollaton Hall. Follow the event signage that will be placed on all main routes. Access to the Festival is via the Lime Tree Avenue entrance accessed from Middleton Boulevard.

There is car parking available at £5 for the day. If the car park is full, there is parking on nearby side streets. Or Nottingham city centre as numerous multi-store car parks, with public transport links that run close to the festival.

By Coach

National Express and Megabus have many routes from all over the country that run to Nottingham.

By Local Bus

Festival goers can catch a bus leaving the Victoria Centre or Upper Parliament Street in Nottingham city centre every 15 minutes from midday. These buses, marked ‘Wollaton Park – special event’ are in addition to the normal Wollaton bound 30 service from the same stops.

Shuttle buses will be taking festival goers back into the city centre from 10.30pm onwards every few minutes.

Nottingham City Transport have introduced a special half price group rider ticket, at just £4 for two adults and three children for the event.

Trent Barton services also runs between Wollaton and Nottingham.

By Train

The closest train station to Splendour Festival is Beeston and Nottingham station.

By Plane

The nearest airport is East Midlands Airport and it takes about 15 minutes from East Midlands Parkway Station to Nottingham Station and about 45 minutes on the bus to the city centre.
