Homebake Music Festival is a music, comedy and film festival boasting a mostly all-Australian (and occasional New Zealand) line-up held at the Domain in Sydney every year as of 2000. The festival's first event was held on 4 January 1996 at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay, on the far north coast of New South Wales and swapped location several times, settling on Australia's East Coast and has been held in Sydney every year since 2000.

Vibe

Homebake celebrates Australian music first and foremost, so attracts a specific kind of niche. That said, tickets always sell out very fast, so the crowd is said to be excitable and energetic, suggesting it may not be the best atmosphere for younger music fans.

History & Facts

The first Homebake took place in January 1996, and attracted 15,000 revellers. The line-up included Spiderbait, Tumbleweed, a very young Silverchair, Regurgitator, The Mark of Cain, You Am I, Sidewinder, Magic Dirt, Fur, Powderfinger, Hardware, Screamfeeder, among others.

The second event took place in December of the same year, at which point Homebake skipped a year, taking place in 1998, and toured Australia's East coast.

As of 2000, the festival has settled in Sydney's Domain, attracting around 20,000 revellers a year.

Tickets & Travel

Cost: $99 + Booking fees. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Homebake's official website recommends public transport as the best method of getting to and from the festival. CityRail and Sydney Buses and Ferries operate frequent services to the City. The closest stations to the Domain are Circular Quay, Martin Place and Wynyard.

Travelling by car is not recommended, as there is only minimal parking space at the Domain.

Children

Homebake is strictly over-18 and no one under the age of 18 will be admitted under any circumstances.

What to Wear

Homebake does not operate a dresscode, but it is usually held during the height of Australia's rainy season, so wellingtons and raincoats are recommended.

Camping
