FINALLY A FESTIVAL FOR THE MOD, SKA AND NORTHERN SOUL SCENE!
Despite being battered by the recent recession, the British festival scene is stronger than ever! Whatever your genre you can find a festival somewhere in the UK to cater for your specific tastes…..unless of course you are a Mod, SKA and Northern Soul fan.
Now there are small events out there but for many years folk have been crying out for a full on British festival aimed specifically at this genre and Great Northern Festivals are proud to announce that it is finally here!
The Great Northern Mod and SKA Festival will be held across four days from August 28th to 31st spanning the Summer Bank Holiday 2015. The venue is the unique and picturesque Thorp Perrow Arboretum in North Yorkshire. Despite being a stone’s throw from the A1 Thorp Perrow is nestled in the Yorkshire countryside on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. With their arboretum and animal attractions including birds of prey the venue is a day out in itself even before the festival gets going!
With a plethora of well-known acts from this much loved and exciting genre, Craig Charles and his Funk & Soul Club DJ set will be opening the event in the expansive dance tent on the Friday evening.
The Selector will headline on Saturday night in the music arena and Bad Manners will headline Sunday night with their unique and upbeat style fronted by the inimitable Buster Blood Vessel. Both headliners will be supported by many more acts including The Lambrettas, Secret Affair, The Chords and Nine Below Zero to name just a few.
As well as live music there will be many other attractions including organised scooter rides around the 2014 Tour-de-France course through the astoundingly beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales, Show and shine, fairground rides etc.
On-site camping is included in the weekend tickets along with all facilities including showers and an on-site shop for any bits and bobs you may have forgotten.
Great Northern Festival Managing Director Mike Jinks said: ”My team and I are passionate about live music and it is extremely rewarding to be able to bring this event to fruition. We all love Mod, SKA and Northern Soul music and it is clear the UK festival scene has been crying out for an event like this for a very long time! It’s going to be a great event with something for everyone and the bonus of the most amazing venue.”
Ticket prices are exceptionally good value for money at just over £20 a day for weekend tickets with all attractions and acts included in the price.
