Electric Forest Festival

Every year the woods foregrounding the little town of Rothbury, Michigan are transformed into a shimmering, iridescent Electronic Dance Music wonderland. Multi-coloured lights accompany the swaying body of the ravers that dance the night away during the Electric Forest Festival.

The woods serve as a spectacular backdrop to quality electronic, house, and trance acts. Fantastic light shows serve to further enhance this special atmosphere. Organisers take special care to minimise the festival's impact on the surrounding environment; festival-goers that bring their recycling to the designated areas in the camp-ground get Eletricology points that can be redeemed to win special merchandise and prizes.

Combining the elaborate stage design and production value of EDM festivals like Tomorrowland with the laid back hippy feel of Woodstock, the Electric Forest Festival is something of a rarity in its genre, recapturing the spirit of the original raver ethos, now lost amidst the slew of corporate sponsorship, fist-pumping 'bros', and drugs.

Those attending can expect to spend the first half of the day wandering around the woods, enjoying the spectacular scenery and making friends with other people attending. There are numerous activities on offer to keep you entertained from yoga and hula hooping, to a water park, golf, or going swimming in the local lake. Of course once night falls you can expect to dance until the cows come home...

The 2014 line-up included Steve Angello, Zedd, The Glitch Mob, Moby, Schoolboy Q and more.

The 2013 line up of the Electric Forest Festival saw indie/electronica band Passion Pit headlining, with Knife Party, legendary trance masters Above and Beyond, as well as Empire of the Sun, Benny Benassi and many more.

Stages and Other Entertainment

There are four stages, with Sherwood Court being the main stage.

Many other activities are on offer, and there are carnival decorations and lightshows scattered throughtout the entire grounds of the festival. Activities like yoga, hula hooping, a silent disco and slack lining, as well as (not for free) a water park, golf, and horse back riding.

There are camping grounds on site, complete with bathrooms, showers, and a general store to sell smaller items. There are areas allotted for camper-vans. Open fires are not permitted though propane stoves are.

There is a specially designated 'clean and sober' alcohol free camping area.

Disability Access

There are wheelchair friendly camping and bathrooms near the entrance to the camp site.
